Grays man pleads guilty to stealing thousands from Afghan war hero

GRAYS MAN Conor Aldous has pleaded guilty to stealing £2,500 from the bank account of grievously injured war hero Alex Stringer.

Private Stringer, a former student at William Edwards lost both legs and an arm by a land mine in 2011.

Alex has rebuilt his life, moving from Chadwell St Mary to Canvey Island but never forgetting his army roots as he took part in remembrance services in Grays.

As part of care and compensation plan, Aldous lived with Mr Stringer and his fiancee Danielle.

But he admitted to taking £2,500 of that money after being given access to bank details.

Aldous will be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court next month.

  1. Alex fought for us and he didnt deserve to be treated this way by someone he regarded as a friend, this is the lowest of the low and i hope that a suitable sentence is handed out
