Frustration for Thurrock commuters as stuck level crossings cause chaos

Network RailDisruption between Pitsea and Grays ongoing because of problems at a level crossing near #EastTilbury, delays expected

Update: Barriers repaired and up by 0830 hrs.

C2C report: “Owing to a fault with three level crossings between East Tilbury and Stanford LH trains are having to run at reduced speed in this area.

EAST TILBURY commuters once again had a frustrating morning as the level crossing barrier was stuck down.

The barriers became stuck around 7.15 am this morning (Friday) leaving commuters stranded and unable to board their trains.

Many went on to Twitter to air their frustrations.

@MarieAlexander said: “What would happen if emergency svcs needed to get to E/Tilbury?could cost lives!25 mins barriers down east and W/tilbury?”

@Katerwillis said: “You aware that gates hve been dwn now for +30 mins@ east tilb?any update? We need to get2 work &are stuck on other side of gate.”

C2C said at 0811 hrs: “There is a level crossing fault at three locations I’m afraid. Sorry for the delay”.
