THURROCK Council is on the lookout for people to join its library Homelink programme, especially in the east of the borough.
Many people believe the service is only for the housebound, but Homelink is a free service delivering library items to people who find it difficult to get to a library and for those who have a physical mobility issue – so if carrying heavy books is a problem, the service could be for you.
Likewise, if someone has sight impairment and does not feel confident about going out, but is still mobile, Homelink could be the answer.
There are 12 rounds in the borough and just over 100 customers, but there is room for more. All nine libraries have Homelink rounds supported by trained library volunteers.
To join, or if you know somebody who is eligible, contact your local library – it’s free to join and libraries offer books in large print and on CD.
