Thurrock Civic award winner lambasts her treatment on the night

BELHUS resident Deirdre Lodge (Dee to her friends) was one of the co-recipients of the Rachel Middleton prize at the Thurrock Civic Awards on Friday night at the High House Production Park.

Dee won the award for her unstinting campaign to highlight the toxic consequences of living with mould in your home.

Although Dee was delighted to win the award she was hardly fulsome in her praise for how she was treated on the night.

We did counsel Dee that she may find the best form of communication to be through a letter to the council however, Mrs Lodge felt that a form of letter to the editor via social media may be a more direct way of getting your point across.

  1. I congratulate Mrs Lodge on receiving an award; people like her, are what community spirit is all about.
It was a great night that showed the level of community spirit we have in Thurrock by the numbers of people that came along. Please let’s leave politics at the door when celebrating community spirit.
