Phil Jupitus first to sign up for Metal

METAL are delighted to announce that Village Green is back for its 6th consecutive year in Chalkwell Park on Saturday 12 July 2014 from 11am until 10pm.

They have a fantastic line up of artists and musicians that includes:-

The international artist and singer Eddi Reader who topped the British charts with her single ‘Perfect’ (with Fairground Attraction) and her album ‘First of a Million Kisses’.

Proclaimed by Jools Holland to be one of his all time favourite voices she will be performing on the Village Green stage as the sun goes down at 7pm.

Elsewhere across the park, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, a hip-hop duo who hale from Stanford-le-Hope, will combine electronic beats with sung, spoken, and rapped lyrics. The New York ska band, The Slackers bring their gospel of Jamaican Rock n Roll from across the Atlantic.

Man Like Me (signed to signed to Mike Skinner’s record label, The Beats) travel the short hop from London while Youth Club and Goldmaster Allstars stroll up the road from their Southend homes to play; four visiting visual artists from Shanghai, via the Liverpool Biennial, will create new work on site; while the world renowned Philadelphia Boys Choir drop in to Southend on their UK tour to perform their Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated set.

Alongside, we will have the usual wide range of comedy, cabaret, live art, literature, spoken word, film, the artists marketplace and a whole host of extraordinary outdoor arts, installations, workshops and performances.

Also new for 2014 will be the Kid’s Village, a whole area of the park dedicated to activities for children and families.
