Historic Fobbing church completes window repair programme

ST MICHAEL’Sfobbing2 Church at Fobbing has recently completed a programme of works to restore its Lady Chapel windows. The Grade 1 listed building and local historic landmark dates back to Anglo Saxon times.

The Church – through individual donations and Friends of Essex Churches – raised £15,000 to repair the east window and Veolia North Thames Trust (VNTT) provided a further £16,000 for the south window and its surrounding stonework.

Fr David Rollins, said, “We are privileged to worship in such a beautiful and historic building and we take our responsibility very seriously to maintain this important church. We are extremely grateful to everyone that has helped us in fundraising, particularly VNTT as the south window stonework was in a worse state of repair than first thought and the project acquired some urgency.”

Doug Benjafield, Chair of VNTT said, “Essex has a huge number of historic buildings and the Trustees and I are always pleased to be involved in helping to maintain them to enable future generations to enjoy them as much as we do”.
