Swimming: Golds and national records for Kieron

ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Thurrock Swimming Club Squad swimmer and St Cleres School pupil, Kieron Harris, traveled to Sheffield to compete in the National Disability Youth Swimming Championships on March 1st.

Kieron, a deaf swimmer from Grays has been competing for nearly two years now.

The Championships were an exciting event which saw Kieron swim alongside some of the country’s Gold medal winning Paralympians from the 2012 Olympic Games.

It was gold all the way as Kieron came home to the borough armed with four gold medals for the 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.

As well as the four gold medals Kieron broke two deaf UK swimming records for his age group in the 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke.

He had a fantastic weekend and his little sister Emma, who celebrated her fifth birthday at the championships, was especially proud of her brother for winning his races!
