Engineering a future in apprenticeships at DP World

dpsouthDP World, the largest logistics park in Europe and Britain’s newest deep sea container port, have joined forces with South Essex College to offer the chance of four highly-sought after engineering apprenticeship places.

Susan Potter, Leadership and Development Manager at DP World, said: “It’s never been a more exciting time to join DP World London Gateway, so it is an amazing opportunity to earn and learn at the same time. The four year long apprenticeship will be hard work, so we are looking for people who can work in a team, commit to their studies and deliver in the workplace.”

On successful completion of the four year course, apprentices will have gained a wealth of on the job experience, a salary and an NVQ 3 in Engineering, BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and BTEC Level 4 HNC in Engineering. This will allow them to progress in the area of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

The apprenticeships will begin this September and apprentices will be amongst the first students to attend South Essex College’s brand new £45 million Thurrock Campus in Grays. They’ll be attending five days a week for the first year and one day per week for the remaining three years, ensuring they are equipped with the right work skills and qualifications for their futures.

Maria Palmieri, Head of Apprenticeships at South Essex College said: “We are committed to giving apprentices the best possible start to their careers and its fantastic that these engineering apprenticeships are on our doorstep. We already have several apprentices at DP World and are proud to be working with them, investing in training to help local people learn the skills they need to progress, while responding to the needs of the local economy. It really does offer people a gateway to their future.”

Applicants must have at least five GCSEs grade C and above, including Cs in English, Maths and Science and applications for the four places closes on Sunday 13 April. Apply now here: http://emergingtalent.dpworld.co.uk.

South Essex College is also still offering places on a brand new Level 3 Logistics and Business course at the new Thurrock Campus from this September.
