WITH over 800 singers, Funky Voices is Essex and Suffolk’s largest modern community choir singing modern music that can be enjoyed by everyone by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Queen, Michael Jackson and more. The 800 strong community choir perform to entertain and help raise funds for charities in the local community and worldwide on a regular basis throughout the year and have helped to raise over £260,000 so far. The choir are honoured to have had the opportunity to help and make a difference to all of the charities they have worked with since 2007.
Award winning Funky Voices have performed at some exceptional venues both nationally and internationally including the London West End Theatres, London Palladium, Trafalgar Square, London Southbank, Disneyland Paris, Berlin, Ireland as well as singing alongside Musical Theatre star Kerry Ellis, Brit award winners Blake, appearing on radio and releasing multiple albums on iTunes. The choir are touring New York City in May this year where they will sing at some of New York’s most iconic attractions including Times Square, Central Park and the Statue of Liberty.
Singers can expect to learn over 50 songs at their rehearsals per year and are given fantastic opportunities (but not expected) to perform at over 250 events per year at some outstanding venues local and worldwide. Being a part of Funky Voices also gives singers the opportunity to perform with famous music artists, compete in music, choral and singing competitions and tour worldwide.
The award winning Funky Voices community choir entertained thousands at The Scoop by Tower Bridge yesterday (Sunday 13th April) at the Munch Street Food Festival to celebrate the London Marathon. Funky Voices were delighted to be invited down to the event where 150 singers performed music from their most recent modern, upbeat repertoire. Organisers were so impressed that Funky Voices have been asked to return for another event ran by Munch Street Food in June.
The choir also lifted the roof off the Southbank Centre last Sunday (6th April) at the annual Chorus Festival. Hundreds gathered to watch the choir’s uplifting performance in the Riverside Terrace Café. Funky Voices then suprised thousands of onlookers and tourists on Queen’s Walk, Southbank Centre by performing a flash mob. Thousands of visitors stopped to watch the award winning choir sing their very own ‘Take That Medley’.. with a twist!
