Hendon 2 v 3 Grays Athletic

GRAYS Athletic maintained their impressive run under Andy Swallow’s stewardship with a last gasp victory over Hendon.

Although it tends to be written that Grays are a tired unit after a long season, they do keep pulling out the results. They held champions Wealdstone and an impressive Lowestoft recently and in the final week of the season, see themselves 13th in the league (somewhat better than YT’s prediction of 20th!).

The impressive Chris Benjamin opened the scoring in the 6th minute and that was good enough for a long time until Dave Diedhou equalised in the 51st minute.

Grays thought they had made certain of victory when Joel Nouble scored in the 83rd minute but that was until Hendon were awarded a controversial penalty.

However, Benjamin scored an injury time winner to make certain of victory for the Blues.
