Thurrock Writers Festival booked for June

THURROCK Council’s libraries will be celebrating and encouraging creative writing with its second Thurrock Writers Festival on Saturday, June 14 at Grays Library.

Several writing workshops will be running on the day, led by national and local authors, Jean Fullerton, Sharon McGovern, Julie Earle, and Danielle Chinnon, as well as the Thurrock Writers Circle.

For adults the workshops are: How to tell your story, with Jean Fullerton (10.15am to 11.15am); Creative writing hints and tips, with Jean Fullerton (11.30am to 12.30pm); Practical workshop on writing short stories, with Thurrock Writers Circle (1pm to 2pm); Finding the writer within you, with Sharon McGovern (2.15pm to 3.15pm); and I didn’t expect any of this! How writing can change your life, with 2013 Thurrock Writers Festival short story winner Danielle Chinnon (2.15pm to 3.15pm in Thameside Gallery).

For children the workshops are: Creative writing for eight to 12-year-olds, with Julie Earle (10.30am to 11.30am and noon to 1pm) in Thameside Gallery.

Tickets for the adult workshops are £2.50 and for children’s workshops £1 each and can be booked by visiting or contacting Grays Library on 01375 413976.
