Athletics: Triumph for Hayley at British Champs

THURROCK hurdler, Hayley McLean made a huge leap in her athletics career when she grabbed the bronze medal for the 400 metre hurdles at the British Champs at Birmingham.

19-year-old Hayley produced a great run on the home straight to medal in a personal best time of 56.43.

The former Hassenbrook and Palmer’s College student is in the form of her life and is on song to make an impression at the Commonwealth Games in August in Scotland.

Scotland’s Elidh Child won the race in 55.58s with Meghan Beesley (56.12s) holding off McLean’s charge for silver.
