THURROCK ended their recent poor form with a thrilling three wicket win at home to Great Baddow.

The visitors batted first and thanks to some good middle order hitting, posted a competitive total of 228 from their 45 overs. Clarke Wren excelled once again with the ball for Thurrock this season, picking up 4-50 from 12 overs.

The home side needed at least one batsman to make a significant contribution and Umar Ayub certainly stepped up to the plate. He opened the batting and made a fantastic unbeaten 86 which contained 10 fours.

Ayub helped Thurrock over the winning line with some help from both Bilal Qureshi and Umaad Sultan down the order as well. The home side got over the line with just 11 balls remaining and the relief was seen on all the players after the winning runs were scored.

This much-needed win for Thurrock means they have risen to third in the Premier Division, 51 points behind top-of-the-table Springfield.
