AN e-fit of a man who sexually assaulted another man as he travelled home on the tube after a night out has been released by investigating officers.
The victim, 26, of Thurrock, Essex, was travelling on the Central Line from Tottenham Court Road at around 11pm on June 6 when the assault took place.
Shortly after the train departed a suited-man approached the victim and sexually assaulted him.
The attack lasted several minutes and took place in front of other commuters, until the victim got off at Mile End station.
Detective Sergeant Phil Briggs is appealing for witnesses on the train at the same time to come forward.
He said: ““Although there were other passengers in the carriage at the time, they may have not have realised what was happening as the victim was too frightened to react.
“Nevertheless, I am keen to speak to anyone who believes they might have been on the train at the time as they might have crucial information about what happened.
“I’m hoping people on the train might remember that evening well as it was the end of the D-Day anniversary commemorations.”
The suspect is described as white, in his 40s or 50s, with short spiky hair and chubby cheeks.
He was wearing a grey suit and spoke with an English accent.
DS Briggs added: “This was a serious and sustained sexual-assault that left the victim extremely distressed. We’re doing all we can to catch the man responsible and bring him to justice before the courts.”
