THE LABOUR candidate for South Basildon and East Thurrock, Mike Le-Surf has written an open letter to praise the work of Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions.
Last Friday morning I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with staff and customers of Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions who offer real choice and control to people with disabilities in Thurrock. A great experience. I would like to publicly thank Director Sunny Saini and CEO Neil Woodbridge for their valuable time and especially for the visit to their Stanford locality base in East Thurrock.
As Labour’s parliamentary candidate for the area with over 20 years of experience working with people with a learning disability I am passionate about creating a level playing field for all citizens in all areas of their lives. Health is an area where professionals can fall well short of what is expected when seeing a person with a learning disability and I will be delighted to support initiatives to improve this experience for all residents of East Thurrock especially those with disabilities.
I am also keen to work with people who are currently excluded from the democratic processes that elect our representatives at a local and national level. I will be working with people to make sure they are registered to vote and will also support the improvement of knowledge around electoral processes. During these austere times learning disability services are under extreme pressure from funders. Having a voice in the local community is the best was to campaign for and force the changes you wish to see. I look forward to working with Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions during my campaign and hopefully as the MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock next May.
