THURROCK won a thrilling match at home to Little Baddow by 11 runs.
The hosts batted first on a humid day at Blackshots and gained two batting points in their total of 178. Number nine Clarke Wren came to the crease and smashed his way to a crucial 39 which included three maximums. Ross Fullbrook (28) Umaad Sultan (26) and Matt Hills (22) also added some valuable runs.
Little Baddow’s reply was a topsy-turvy affair until the very end. At one stage the away side would be in control, then Thurrock would take back the initiative. The run chase looked set to go to the last over but the visitors were bowled out 11 runs adrift. Baddow’s cause was not helped by three run outs in the final stages.
Clarke Wren was top scorer and also took two wickets including the final wicket to fall, while opening bowlers Sultan and Daniel Laird also grabbed two wickets apiece.
