Football: Trophies and new signings as busy pre-seaspn continues for Grays Ath

A BUSY pre-season continues for Grays Athletic both on and off the field.

1. Stan Veness Trophy: Tilbury 1 v 4 Grays Athletic

Tilbury’s Ben Hunt struck first in the 16th minute to make it 1-0. However Freddie Lapado struck back three minutes later to level the score and settle the blues supporters nerves.

On the 23rd minute the Blues took the lead through a Jay Leader goal making it 2-1. Grays dominated the second half with Lapado scoring two more to make the final score 4-1.

A good encounter for Jody Browns boys with only two pre-season fixtures left before the first game of the season away against Billericay Town on the 9th August.

2. Powerful forward joins on loan from Kidderminster Harriers.

Grays Ath have announced the signing of striker Freddie Lapado. Freddie joins the Blues on an initial six month loan from conference side Kidderminster Harriers.

Ladapo, born in Romford, England, is a powerful and robust forward who at youth level scored close to a goal a game. He made appearances on loan and work experience for teams including Chelmsford City, Thurrock and Bishop’s Stortford during his progression through Colchester United’s youth ranks, before being offered a professional one-and-a-half-year contract with the club in March 2012.

Ladapo made his first appearance for Colchester in the 2012–13 season, coming on as a 68th minute substitute for Gavin Massey in a 3–1 home defeat to Brentford on 26 December 2012. His second appearance came as a 66th minute substitute for Clinton Morrison in a 0–0 away draw against Hartlepool United on 5 March 2013.
