A SEVERE weather warning has been issued for Essex on Friday (August 8) for heavy rain, thunder and possible travel disruptions as a result.
Met Office forecasters say much of eastern and south eastern England will be affected, from around noon until 9pm.
The possibility of up to 50 mm of rain and surface water on roads causing problems for motorists.
The Met Office chief forecaster said: "A deepening area of low pressure is likely to pass close to southeastern England on Friday.

"With very warm, humid air over the region there is the potential for the rain to become very heavy during the afternoon with totals of more than 50mm locally."
