West Tilbury WI August 2014
The Speaker for the West Tilbury WI meeting was unfortunately unable to attend
His place was taken by Chris Church with his talk on Bees. This is a subject that we are all interested to find out about as our vegetable and fruit supply is relying on the bees’ to pollinate them, without them nothing would survive. Flowers and plants that are a gardener’s delight need the bees to pollinate them too. It was interesting to see the hive pointed out with its sections for Queen, drone and workers, the honey production, and how when there are any bees’ that have died how they are disposed of. The end product is the honey that has been used for centuries, for all manner of things from eating and also for healing.
President Margaret Camp read out letters of thanks from the institutes that attended our July Birthday party, Secretary Denise Nice is handing her shared secretary position over to Lorna Jones for the rest of the year.
