A SERVICE to pay tribute to the Stanford-le-Hope soldiers who gave their lives in World War One is to be held this weekend on Sunday 17th August 2014, at 1515 (for a 1530 service).

All residents are invited for a 45 minute service at the Stanford War Memorial, The Green.

The organising committee hope you will be able to come to see the work that has gone in to making the Stanford War Memorial a fitting tribute to Our Brave Boys who fell in battle during WW1.

The Stanford War Memorial Restoration Fund hope that as many people from Stanford-le-Hope, Corringham and neighbouring towns can make this rededication, and thank everybody who has contributed to this wonderful ‘town-defining’ project.

During the service, a reef will be laid on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; one on behalf of the first citizen of Thurrock, the Mayor of Thurrock; and one on behalf of Stanford residents laid by members of the Restoration Group.

Residents and other groups will be able to make their own tributes following the service.
