A CHARITY afternoon was held on September 2nd in aid of The Jane Packer Foundation.
Jane was a florist who had a brilliant eye for colour and texture. By promoting her ideas she did flowers for magazines, fashion houses, Sarah Ferguson’s wedding and invented the raffia tied bouquet.
Jane was copied world-wide and is credited with why department stores, shops, stalls and many other establishments all have magnificent displays of flowers to buy.
Jane was born in Chadwell St. Mary and died of a brain tumour in 2011 aged 52.
The Foundation has been set up to help provide funds for research.
A spokesperson said: "We were very pleased to welcome the Mayor to our charity day and he is seen with Jane’s father where he met the bowlers and visitors and he also enjoyed a cream tea. About £500 was raised".
