THIRTEEN seats sat empty at last nights meeting of the full council in Thurrock.
There are only eight meetings in the civic year that councillors are "invited" to attend.
But last nights meeting (Wednesday) was notable for the large number of empty chairs.
Only one councillor ( Ockendon cllr Aaron Kiely) did not give his apologies but the rest did.
There were councillors who could not attend for health reasons.
However, some may wonder, with £37 million pounds worth of cuts and hundreds of jobs to go, what the public must think, when councillors, paid £8,000 a year allowance, do not attend meetings.
