LABOUR leader, Ed Miliband has implored every council in England to get behind the Better Together campaign.

The campaign relates to the referendum in Scotland where voters can decide whether Scotland should be an independent nation.

Some council’s have embraced the notion. Liverpool City Council are on and closer to home, Barking and Dagenham are another.

Barking however, has a Scottish way of looking at things as they have just sent Graham Farrant "homeward to think again".

Thurrock however, have not decided to fly the flag. We did ask John Kent and others but the answer was something similar to ‘Nae chance."

Which is a bit of a surprise as, according to the 2011 census, his ward of Grays Riverside has the most Scots living in it. (140).

So Thurrock may rhyme with Greenock, Gourock and even Tunnock but that is where it all ends.
