THE HEADTEACHER of the Ormiston Park Academy (OPA) is set to quit.
YT understands that Tess Walker will be on "agreed leave" from September until she leaves at Christmas.
Ms Walker’s departure comes after the school came bottom of the league in Thurrock for 5 A* to C (inc English and Maths) with just 38%. It is also, according to figures, the only senior school in Thurrock that is undersubscribed.
Ms Walker saw the school through its transformation from Aveley Comprehensive and Belhus Humanities College to Ormiston Park Academy.
She also oversaw the physical transformation from a run down comp on Nethan Drive to a state of the art academy that is the envy of many.
However, whilst many schools are bursting at the seams, OPA seems to have become something of the forgotten school of Thurrock and many have worried that the gleaming building may end up as a "white elephant".
