Kings Lynn Stars 59 v 35 Lakeside Hammers

VORTEX Lakeside Hammers ended their 2014 Elite League season with a defeat at King’s Lynn this evening. The Stars, looking to reclaim top position in the Elite League table, showed their intent opening up an eight point gap after the first two races.

Danny King took victory in the third, with Richard Lawson taking a point to hand the Hammers their first advantage of the evening, but the first two heat results were a sign of things to come with the Stars producing a further five 5-1 maximum heat advantages over the remainder of the meeting.

For the Hammers, guest Stuart Robson, in for the injured Lewis Bridger, showed his usual tenacity, top scoring with 10 points, including a heat victory in the fifth and a four point tactical ride in the 7th. Back up was provided by King with 8 and Lawson with 7 paid 8, but on a night when the Stars reserve Lewis Kerr scored a deserved full maximum, the Hammers were often left wanting after the first bend.
