By Antony Mercer
Att 118
TILBURY suffered defeat in a game they dominated for long periods, but were undone by a late first half hat-trick from prolific goalscorer Luke Stanley.
Tilbury gave a debut to Ruben Duarte in attack and showed that he could be a good find with Tilbury’s second goal.
Tilbury started brightly and Duarte hit a blistering effort on 9 minutes that hit a defender on the line in the face. Duarte and Babalola had the home side on the back foot and were both denied by Templeman. Ramos in the Tilbury goal was also busy Prada going close on two occasions and Stanley who was also denied.
Tilbury had a mad 9 minutes before the break with Stanley scoring his 3 goals.
On 35 he slid past Ramos before scoring again 5 minutes later when a ball from Prada’s one two with saw him finish well. A minute before the break it was 3-0 when Brown’s ball over the top saw Ramos and Vaughan collide and left Stanley the easy chance to round Ramos and slot into an empty net.
Tyler Hubbard was an immediate substitute after the break and Tilbury again gained the possession with Flack and Babalola getting balls into the box, but not getting the final finish. On 49 Stanley was in front of goal but some how missed. Tilbury looked likely to score as Duarte was denied by a fantastic save from Templeman on 54. From the corner minute later Vaughan flicked on a corner and Babalola was given space in the box and shoot home. Two minutes later Soham thought they had scored when
Brown rounded Ramos in the box, only to see his effort come off the post. Having pulled a goal back, Tilbury were now enjoying the better of the play as Flack cut in from the wing to curl a shot over the bar, before pulling another goal back in the 63rd minute when Hubbard crossed and delivered the ball across goal leaving Duarte an easy chance to slot home.
Both sides had chances with Prada and Stanley for Soham and Henty for Tilbury. Soham secured the points with 4 minutes remaining when Sharman crossed and Dan Brown rose to head home to seal the points in an entertaining game.
