THURROCK avenged their cup defeat by Aveley in some style with four first half goalss at Mill Field.

There was less than sixty seconds on the clock when Thurrock were awarded a free kick several yards outside the box. Skipper Lewwis Spence stepped up and hit a perfect shot into the corner of the net.

As perfect a start as you could wish but 5 minutes later Charlie Stimson had a strong shot blocked on the 6 yard box, Stimson calmly took possession of the ball again and curled a left foot shot underneath Aveley keeper James Marrable.

Thurrock kept up relentless pressure with Lewwis Spence heading a James Goode corner wide, moments later it was Ross Wall’s turn to connect with a Goode corner forcing a good save. James Goode was not to be denied though and his shot from the edge of the area was nestling once more in Aveley’s goal.

Winding down to half time in time added on and Charlie Stimson received the ball on the six yard box, spun Spencer Harrison who could do nothing but grab Stimson’s shorts and pull him down leading to a straight red and a penalty, confidently slotted away by Mark Onyemah.

Thurrock made three early substitutions in the second half with new signing Abs Thomson replacing James Goode, Brad Warner for Lamar Reynolds and Rob Clark for Greig Stewart.

With a four goal lead and an extra man Thurrock were content to let Aveley come to them, break up the play and counter attack and a number of chances went begging for the want of a final touch
