Race attack at Tesco’s Lakeside whilst mum holding child in her arms

POLICE in Grays are keen to speak to several members of the public who may have witnessed an assault that took place in the parent and child parking area in the car park of the Tesco supermarket at Lakeside.

It happened at sometime between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on Saturday, October 4. The victim, a 35-year-old woman who lives in Chafford Hundred, left her trolley outside of the trolley bay and was then racially abused by a woman. The woman then assaulted her which caused her distress to both her and her one-year-old daughter who she was holding in her arms. She was hit in the right side of her chest but did not suffer any visible injuries.

Investigating Officer Pc Lauren Sharland said: "Afterwards, the victim was approached by several members of the public who saw what happened but did not leave their details. I would like them to come forward and contact me.”
