Labour hold West Thurrock and South Stifford

LABOUR have held the ward of West Thurrock And South Stifford.

The Labour candidate, Terry Brookes won with a majority of 282. The last election in May saw Labour win by 294.

Labour were delighted with gaining 50% of the vote.

The Labour group were clearly very pleased at the count and will go into the next five months of campaigning in very positive mood.

UKIP looked philosophical with some pointing to the large Labour team in operation and a couple of activists wondering whether the number of East Europeans that were seen going into polling stations, was a factor.

However, Labour were mostly a solid and dedicated team of seven or eight led by the prospective candidate for the General Election, Polly Billington.
