Witness appeal after fatal road crash in Stanford-le-Hope

Police have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road crash at Stanford-Le-Hope.

Officers were called at 12.15pm on Sunday October 19 following reports that a car had collided with a garden wall at Branksome Avenue, near the junction with Oxley Gardens.

The driver, a local man aged in his 50s, was taken by air ambulance to Basildon Hospital where he later died.

The car involved was a grey Vauxhall. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved.

Police closed the road until about 3.30pm while investigations were carried out.

Any witnesses or anyone with information about events leading to the incident should contact the investigating officer Pc Joe Gasparini at Chigwell road policing office on 101.

THE ESSEX Air Ambulance service joined paramedics, police and firefighters after a car smashed into a wall in Stanford-le-Hope.

The car, believed to be a taxi, crashed at just after noon on Sunday October 19th.

A spokesperson for the Essex Fire Service said: "Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of an accident involving a car and a house.

"The vehicle had left the roadway and gone into the property.

"Ambulance service paramedics were called to the scene to deal with one male casualty. The casualty had been released before the arrival of crews.

"Firefighters made the scene safe before leaving the incident at 12:37 hrs".

The ambulance service confirmed that a male, after being given treatment at the scene was transferred by (land) ambulance to Basildon hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
