A STANFORD-le-Hope woman, who starred in the Oxo ads alongside the late Lynda Bellingham has paid tribute to the star who died of cancer on Sunday.
In 1983, Alison Levell (then Alison Reynolds) was just eight years old when she was picked to star in the Oxo ads.
Alison said: "I had been acting for two years when I was picked for the part. Lynda was a wonderful woman, friend and mentor.
"She really did act like a mother to the three children. We had a wonderful time right up until 1999 when the adverts ended
"I think her death has been tragic but at the same time it was so typical of Lynda. She took control and was positive.
"What a woman, what a mother, what a role model and a very fine actress. A special lady, that it was a pleasure and a privilege to know.
