Travel chaos on M25 after multi-vehicle crash

Update: 2100 hrs

M25 Essex – Queuing traffic and long delays on M25 anticlockwise at J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock, because of an accident earlier on. All lanes have been re-opened. Congestion to J2, A2 (Darenth Interchange).

M25 Essex – Queuing traffic and severe delays on M25 anticlockwise at J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock, because of an accident earlier on. All lanes have been re-opened. Congestion to J5 M26.

M25 Essex – Queuing traffic on M25 clockwise at J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock, because of an accident involving a car and a lorry earlier on. All lanes have been re-opened. Congestion to J29, A127 (Romford).

Update: 1600 hrs

Update from Fire Service

Firefighters gave first aid to a man and made the scene safe following an RTC involving three HGVs and two cars. No one was trapped as a result of the collision, although crews did give first aid and oxygen therapy to a man with suspected head injuries, the man was conscious and breathing.

Crews had made the scene safe by 12:30hrs.

Update: 1350 hrs

Kent side

M25 Kent – Two lanes closed and queuing traffic on M25 Dartford Tunnel anticlockwise at A282, Dartford River Crossing toll booths, because of serious accident after J31. Congestion to J3, M20 (Swanley Interchange).

Police message

MOTORISTS are advised to avoid the M25 following a multi-vehicle collision on the Essex bound track of the motorway.

It happened at around 11.35am today (Friday, October 24). Five vehicles are involved and it happened between junctions 31 and 30. The motorway has been closed at the Dartford Tunnel but we hope it will be open shortly.

One driver is reported to have been injured but their injuries are not thought to be serious at this stage. The vehicles involved include three articulated lorries, a VW Golf and a Peugeot 206.

Motorists are thanked for their patience whilst the vehicles are recovered.

Update: 1300 hrs

West bore tunnel is closed after the accident at J31 (Thurrock) and traffic is queuing back into Kent to J3 (M20/Swanley) .

Incident: 1155 hrs

The main road is closed, with traffic being routed around the junction and back on again, and queuing traffic on M25 anticlockwise at J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock, because of a multi-vehicle accident. Diversion in operation – via the slip roads.
