Traitor’s Gate wins CAMRA Pub of the Year award

And the winner is….

On Tuesday night the Traitor’s Gate in Little Thurrock won South West Essex CAMRA Pub of the Year.

The certificate is pictured being presented by Anne Radley, Chairman of SW Essex Branch of CAMRA.

“We are here in the Traitor’s Gate tonight to celebrate the winning of our Pub of the Year Competition. This pub is no stranger to the award having won it in 2005 and again in 2010, the pub has continued to thrive under the new management so please accept our congratulations, and hope you continue to provide Little Thurrock with an outstanding community pub serving outstanding Real Ale”.

Ben Deverell, along with his father and business partner Mick and manager Vinny Belt are pictured receiving their award from Anne Radley.

Ben replied “I have to thank my whole family and the team behind Deverells. We are proud of our pub and our beers – it’s a great thing to be rewarded for so much hard work”.

Ben runs Deverells Brewery not 100 metres from the pub, serving Real Ale to his valued customers as well as supplying Thurrock Beer Festival and other pubs with his beer. The Deverells have been in charge of the Traitor’s Gate since October 2013 and seem to be going from strength to strength, with regular Open Mike nights and Live music at least twice a week.

For more information please contact the pub on 01375 372628 or follow them on Facebook.
