Russell Brand joins V for Vendetta demonstrators in ugly scenes on streets of London

THURROCK’S Russell Brand joined thousands of masked anti-capitalist demonstrators in Westminster for a Bonfire Night protest that ended up bringing chaos to the streets of the capital.

Riot police took to the streets around Trafalgar Square and BUckingham Palace as stand off after stand off took place on the streets.

The protest, organised in hundreds of cities around the world, saw the activists wear masks depicting the sinister face of Guy Fawkes – a mask made famous in the film V for Vendetta.

Russell Brand told reporters that Boris Johnson ‘Represented the bankers of London and not the ordinary people of London.

"He has done nothing for the firemen, nothing for the nurses."

Officers were forced to draw their batons as missiles, plastic cones and road signs were launched along the Mall, while fireworks were left off in Trafalgar Square.

As of around midnight, ten people had been arrested, including three on suspicion of assaulting police officers, one of a firework offence, three for public order crimes and one of attempted GBH.
