FIRE CREWS were called to Chemviron Carbon in London Road, Grays, after fire broke out inside the factory.
Crews arriving at the scene reported that 10 per cent of the buidling, measuring 50m x 20m, was alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus set to work using one main jet and one hose reel and the blaze was extinguished by 06:13 hrs.
A fire investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.
Initially two appliances were sent to the scene. On arrival, the incident commander requested the attendance of an additional two crews.
