THERE was more good news for Thurrock primary schools as SATS results for a vast number of schools improved.

The Key Stage 2 tests are based around the principles of reading, writing and arithmetic.

Top of the table is Woodside Academy who scored 91%.. A 11% improvement on last year and testament to the hard work by principal, Ed Caines and his team.

YT counted over 17 schools, who had improved from last year.

Among the big movers are: Horndon Primary who attained 89%. Two years ago, they only attained 44% and again seems to be testament to their whole school ethos.

Graham James attained 87%, up from 70% in 2013.

Holy Cross attained 90%, up from 75% in 2013.

Stifford Clays attained 83%, up from 61% in 2013.

There may be a few who will be disappointed.

St Mary’s in Tilbury plummeted by 26%!

Holy Cross dropped from 90% to 75%

There also seems to be a downward spiral for Harris Academy Primary who have gone from 88% in 2012, 85% in 2013 to 82% in 2014.

    Abbotts Hall dropped by 7%

    Aveley dropped by 10%

    YT will garner further reaction.
