THERE was no snow at this year’s Aveley Christmas Market but blue skies and a bit of a breeze and a chill. But the wind did not stop people coming to the Forum’s biggest and most successful market to date.

Over 3000 people turned out to buy Christmas Presents, have some fun and be entertained. The streets were full of music as they were entertained by Aveley & Newham Brass, Ormiston Park Academy’s Glee Club and the Forum’s own Music for Change. The Aveley Twirlers danced for us and the Crown & Anchor also had a festive singer.

There were over 60 stalls, some were selling Christmas wares. The Market was also raising money for local charities such as the Nicky Mason Memorial Fund, the Greyhound Home and Breakaway Respite Care amongst others.

The market also launched the Forum’s Active Aveley Year funded by Awards for All. On site were groups inviting people to take part in their healthy activities or giving advice including Change4Life and the Family Information Service. Vitality were busy giving people Health Checks so there was plenty of opportunities for people to start planning their New Year’s Resolutions. (Don’t forget the Forum’s Boot Camp starts in January)

The stalls completely filled the High Street between the roundabouts at each end and potential stall holders were still looking for spots right up to the Friday before the market. So if they want to fit them all in next year: WE NEED A BIGGER STREET!
