HUNDREDS of books were kindly donated by the College’s English department and Library Resource Centre to a local charity raising money for deprived schools in Africa. His Praises In Action charity approached the College for support to help raise money and help promote their charity dinner and dance event.

The College offered a donation of books and students in the College’s Christian Union group also lent a hand with promoting the event and one student even performed at the show.

Organiser of the event, Jocelyn Boahene said: "I am grateful for the opportunity given to me to meet the students at the College. The students were warm and friendly and it is a wonderful reflection of the good work you are doing in their lives. She added: "On behalf of the charity, I would like to say a big thank you to Palmer’s for the donation and support".

Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer’s College, said: "Passing on the gift of reading and helping to improve lives is a great honour for us and we are pleased to be able to make a contribution”.

His Praises In Action charity aims to supply academic books, journals and articles to government and private institutions in Africa primarily Ghana. They encourage Pastors and individuals to set up libraries and recreational centres to facilitate, boost and strengthen the education structures within the African communities.

They supply toys, educational materials, food, clothes and some basic medically related products. Some establishments like orphanages and schools in rural towns and villages face challenges to source such items because of affordability; HPIA aims to bridge the gap for these establishments through the support and supply of used books, journals, articles, toys, educational materials, food and clothes from generous donations from the UK.
