IT was announced today that the government has refused the planning application at the top of Purfleet Road.
Tim Aker MEP said: “Were it not for Conservative and Labour Councillors voting for this development, Aveley would not have been left in limbo for so long.
“Thanks to representations from UKIP’s Cllr Robert Ray and our long-standing opposition to the development, reinforced by my victory at the recent by-election, we have managed to stop this development going ahead.
“The pressure and support from the people of Aveley has been heard in Westminster because we never stopped talking about defending our green spaces. This is a victory for the people of Aveley.
“Residents right across Thurrock are sick and tired of over-development adding increasing strain to our infrastructure. This is impacting on schools and the Aveley Medical Centre most.
“We can only hope now that they leave our greenbelt alone. Enough is enough. UKIP will always fight to protect our green spaces.”
