Police appeal for witness after a man is stabbed in Aveley pub

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a stabbing at Aveley in which a man was seriously injured.

Police were called to High Street shortly before 3pm on Saturday January 17 after reports of an altercation between two men at the Crown and Anchor pub.

A local man aged in his 20s was found to have a number of stab wounds and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to a hospital in London. His condition today was said to be serious but stable.

A man was seen running off after the incident and despite extensive searches involving the helicopter and ground units there was no trace of him.

DCI Mark Hall of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "Forensic examinations remain on-going and searches have been conducted locally.

"We want to hear from any witnesses who were in the pub at the time of the altercation and would like to hear from anyone who saw the man running away.”

Essex Police has confirned that they have attended, along with paramedics a report of a stabbing in the High Street, Aveley.

The location is believed to be the Crown and Anchor pub.

The incident happened at just after 3pm.

The local man was transferred to hospital with a serious stab wound.

Enquiries in the local area are continuing.
