Football: Aveley downed by Soham Town

Ryman Div One North

Soham Town Rangers 2 v 1 Aveley

THERE are no easy games in this division and so it proved as the Millers lost to Soham Town Rangers 2-1.

Millers inconsistent form at the moment is costing them a play off spot as they have now won eight and lost five in the last 13 games.

Soham controlled the game for the first 60 minutes as the Millers didn’t really get a look in, but the last thirty minutes the Millers showed why they are themselves challenging for the top five places in the Ryman North.

The deadlock was broken in a keenly contested first half, just before the break. Paul Preston misjudged the ball and it went to Luke Stanley, his shot was saved by James Marrable, it landed straight to Ryan Sharman who finished well into the open goal.

Soham doubled their lead in the 80th minute when Matt Simpson tapped in from close range.

The Millers did get one back through Danny Francis in injury time.
