MORE than 20 services from across Thurrock Council attended last week’s (20 January) Schools and Academies “Expo” at High House Production Park in Purfleet.
The event, now in its second year, showcased the range of services available to schools and academies in the borough, giving headteachers, principals, and school business managers an opportunity to meet providers from the council and discuss their individual needs and requirements.
Thurrock Council delivers a range service from catering, educational psychology and welfare services to legal, waste and environmental and occupational health.
Cllr John Kent, Leader of the Council and education portfolio holder, said: “These days the world of education is basically a competitive market and it pleases me that Thurrock can offer schools in the borough and further afield such a wide range of services.
“The council as a whole provides services you would not at first associate with schools, but these days it is important that things such as waste and environmental services, cutting the grass are advertised as available as well as more obvious things like the extracurricular activities at Grangewaters Outdoor education centre or catering.”
