CHILDREN attending an appointment at Orsett Hospital now have more to occupy them during their visit, thanks to a kind donation of toys and books from staff at Bella Italia, Lakeside.
Up to 45 children a day pass through the children’s outpatient clinics at Orsett, with a range of medical conditions.
Viliam Supak, manager at Bella Italia Lakeside, said: “Our staff were keen to do something for local children, so our kitchen staff and waiters each bought a toy suitable for children visiting hospital.”
Elaine Notley, outpatient sister, said: “We often get overlooked when it comes to gifts for children in hospital, as many people just think of children who need to stay in.
Some of our younger patients will be apprehensive about coming to the hospital for their appointment, and these toys and books will help brighten their visit. We are very grateful that the staff at Bella Italia thought of us.”
