SOUTH Essex College helped mark Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Awareness week by taking part in the Wear It With Pride initiative.
Staff and students dressed in colourful clothing on Wednesday to mark the event and show their support for the LGBT community.
During the awareness week the College has been promoting organisations which provide support and advice, as well as celebrating the contribution the LGBT community makes to the College and the wider community.
James Vessey-Miller, Student Union LGBT Officer, said he was delighted to see so many people show their support.
He said: “It’s been fantastic, lots of people have been showing their support, which is great to see.”
College Principal Angela O’Donoghue, was equally pleased.
She said: “It is really encouraging to see people come together and celebrate LGBT Awareness Week.
“The College celebrates the fact that our staff and students come from all walks of life, backgrounds and cultures. I firmly believe this amazing diversity contributes to the success of College life.”
