CONFERENCE side, Welling United have relieved manager Jody Brown of his duties with immediate effect.

After a run of nine matches which has seen the club take just one point, the board felt that they had to act immediately in the best interests of the club’s short-term aim of avoiding relegation.

Brown was manager of Grays Athletic for the first half of the season. Many fans were left bitter and disappointed that he left the club mid-season.

Others felt that it may be a bit of a jump for a young manager who had made a promising start into coaching but nothing more than that.

A spokesperson for Welling United said: "The board would like to place on record their thanks to Jody and his coaching staff for their efforts in the past two months".
