TRAVIS Perkins plc, one of the leading suppliers to the UK construction industry, received a visit from George Osborne at its new Range Centre in Tilbury.
The new distribution hub is set to provide around 130 job opportunities when it opens, so it was the ideal venue for the Chancellor of the Exchequer to discuss the 2015 Budget. These opportunities are part of the 4,000 new jobs Travis Perkins plc has announced it will be creating over the next four years.
Due to open in July 2015, the Range Centre is home to thousands of products, supplying heavy-side stock to branches of Travis Perkins plc’s businesses across the East. The brand new Tilbury Centre joins existing Range Centres in Warrington and Cardiff, with a further new Centre due to open in Coventry in June 2016.
Local tradesmen are set to benefit too, with stores across the East region now able to offer an extended range of products, all available for next day delivery. Â The Range Centre delivers many of its orders overnight, so customers don’t have to compete with delivery lorries for parking spaces either.
Joel Brown, Group Supply Chain Development Manager at Travis Perkins plc, comments: “It was fantastic to celebrate the creation of around 130 jobs at our new Range Centre with a visit from George Osborne. It’s great to know that we are benefitting the local community.
"At Travis Perkins plc we’re always striving to give our customers the best experience possible and we’re delighted to be able to offer next day delivery on all products, thanks to the new Range Centres. Our latest Travis Perkins catalogue has just launched, so we’re encouraging everyone to pay a visit to one of our branches and get your order faster than ever!”
