THE demand for primary school places in the west of the borough was illustrated by a look at how many parents put western schools at the top of their preferences list.
Tudor Court in Chafford Hundred and Belmont Castle Academy in Grays came top with 113 first preferences. Closely followed by Harris Academy Primary with 109 and then West Thurrock with 104.
Harris Chafford had there largest number of overall preferences with a whopping 315.
Over on the east side of the borough, it was a different story. Abbots Hall had just 33 first preferences; Arthur Bugler 71, Corringham 66 and Graham James 72.
Of course, the number of first preferences is not necessarily a judgement on the quality of the school.
