EIGHTIES pop star and Basildon girl, Alyson Moyet has sent out a message of good luck to the Labour candidate for South Basildon and East Thurrock Mike Le Surf.
Alison became famous as the singer in electro-pop duo Yazoo (with Vince Clarke – formerly of Basildon band Depeche Mode) in 1982 and released her triple platinum solo album Alf in 1984.
South Basildon and East Thurrock candidate Mike Le-Surf said: "I was delighted to see on twitter that Alison is publicly supporting Labour on May 7th and sent her a message of thanks.
She replied wishing me "more luck than you can imagine" which was wonderful. I was in my teens when Yazoo formed and have all their singles on 12 inch vinyl at home."
"As the candidate for this wonderful constituency I am very supportive of the electro-pop scene in the town and met the BAS Productions team last month in the town centre. Basildon’s musical heritage is something we can all be very proud of."
