Treacle Mine roundabout: Well those repairs worked then?

DESPITE thousands of pounds of taxpayers money being spent on trying to repair the flooding issue on the Treacle Mine roundabout, it looks like it hasn’t worked.

A number of motorists have complained that the roundabout is flooded this morning (Tuesday) as they travel into work after the Bank Holiday weekend.

With reports of lights having broken down at the Hathaway Road/Lodge Lane junction as well, it has led to questions as to why the repairs have not worked.

With speed restrictions on the A13, the Labour run Thurrock Council will hope that the commuters don’t take out their frustrations on the ballot box on Thursday.

A Thurrock Council spokesperson said: "Thurrock Council announced earlier this year it planned major works on the Treacle Mine roundabout to tackle the issue of flooding there.

That work has started, but has not been completed. It is expected to be completed in the summer.

"Unfortunately Monday night’s heavy rain caused the usual flooding problems which is why the work is being carried out".
