Volunteers needed for summer events!

ngage – the community organisation and Volunteer Centre for Thurrock – are seeking local people who are willing to volunteer at a number of local events over the summer.

Laura Hudson, volunteer coordinator said “There are fantastic events taking place this July including the Stanford Festival, Thurrock 100 walk, Village Beach and Grays Big Lunch. There are many roles available to support all ages and abilities, and people need only give a few hours of their time to help make these events a success”.

The Stanford Music Festival is a great family event that is taking place on the 4th July, and volunteer stewards are being asked to complete a 3 hour shift between 3pm – 6pm or 5pm – 8pm.

Thurrock 100 walk is a unique cultural project taking place between Thursday 9th-18th July. It will consist of a series of 10 mile public walks over a ten day period and volunteers will be needed to take on various roles including marshalling, walk leaders, walk markers (middle and back) and lots more in between.

Village Beach is new event coming to Thurrock and is taking place on 18th July. This will be a fun packed event providing an exciting mix of arts, music, film, dance and performance for all ages. Volunteers are needed to support roles such as production, backstage, media & social media and event stewarding/marshalling. There will be opportunities to get involved in the lead up to the event and on the day.

Grays Big Lunch is a wonderful family day that is taking place on 29th July. Volunteers are needed to help out with parking between 9am – 11am or stewarding between 12pm – 4pm.

“Volunteers really enjoy themselves and many come back year after year. Volunteers play an important role in making community events such a big success. They also provide a great way for local people to get more involved in the local community”.
